St Catherine’s participates in a prayer ministry termed the “Elijah Cup”. The Elijah Cup is a consecrated chalice that will be used by the celebrant at Mass. After purifying the cup, the deacon will present it to the scheduled family, individual or couple who will take the cup home and put it in a place of honor.

The purpose of the Elijah Cup is to provide a focal point for prayer in the home. Each day for a week, as the family gathers (morning, evening or at meals), they pray for an increase and perseverance of vocations.

St. Augustine says "singing is praying twice, singing is for the one who loves." Music, as it comes from deep within us, is a way for God to lead us to the realm of higher things. We experience the divine in the words and melodies sealed on our hearts long after the song is sung.

At St. Catherine's we respect 12 centuries of Catholic music. We honor the vast, beautiful treasure of Catholic music sung throughout the ages. We praise God joyfully from our hearts “with Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs" at every Mass, whether traditional or contemporary. The Elizabeth Ministry is an outreach to parents during the times of celebration, challenge, and sorrow. The purpose of this ministry is to provide support, comradeship, spiritual guidance and encouragement to parents of any age. Specifically, the ministry prepares and provides meals for those families struggling with extended periods of difficulties.

By following the example set by Mary and Elizabeth, parents are brought together to share experiences and respond to each others' needs during and after the childbearing years.

Our members follow the examples of scripture by bringing women comfort and assistance during difficult times. Elizabeth Ministers are contacted once a month to prepare a full meal for families of our parish in need of our assistance. click here to read more

Ministry of Mothers provides a process of spiritual enrichment for women.The ministry empowers women to embrace the light of Christ and the unique giftedness each holds within.

Through MOMS, women are encouraged to reflect on themselves and on the roles they hold in life. They take time to look at their strengths, weaknesses, ministries, feelings, and friendships, and how God’s grace plays a role in all aspects of their lives. They are encouraged to seek out areas in their life for personal growth, and to view their vocation as the sacred gift God made it.

Ministry of Mothers also gathers mothers together to form a network of mutual spiritual support; provides group experience of learning, praying and ministering to each other; introduces mothers to opportunities for personal and spiritual growth in a faith sharing group; increases communication skills and the use of prayer rituals in the home. click here to read more

Today's churches, like today's world, are rich with "Over Sixty" persons and they have much to offer. Many of them have lived for God their entire lives and have a rich heritage of experiences to draw upon.

In a very real sense, Siena Seniors are the church--busy and involved in every aspect of the life and various ministries at St. Catherine’s. The situations they have lived through have produced wisdom, knowledge, insight, and an understanding of the ups and downs of life through which our trust in God must never be shaken. There is a reason why this group is often referred to as “The Greatest Generation” - they are a gift from God to be cherished and to learn from.
